About Us

eTeams is based in Scarriff, in the West of Ireland, close to Shannon International Airport

Formed in 1994, eTeams’ original focus was to bring an understanding of information technology to companies and communities in the West of Ireland.  The company operated on the principle of providing work independent of location and time zone; e-Working.  This enabled the potential for an improved work-life balance for its team members.

We then branched out into the area of developing e-Learning courses which brought with it a new revenue stream, that of translating these courses, along with increasing requests for translations to the Irish language.

With its growing reputation for e-Learning, e-Working, IT and Irish language translation, eTeams was approached by a major Irish Public Sector agency to translate its website into Irish and some content into French, Romanian and Polish. This project provided the spring-board for eTeams to develop its core, multi-language business.

Several key events then took place:

  1. eTeams secured the contract to provide a 24/7 publication and translation service for the Irish Presidency of the European Union website.  The translation of 1.2 million English source words was performed into French and Irish.
  2. eTeams was approached by Microsoft to localise Microsoft Office into Irish, with 315,000 words localised over an eight week period.
  3. eTeams was contacted by the Translation Centre of the European Union to provide Irish translations of official documentation for the European Union, a relationship still ongoing
  4. eTeams was awarded the contract to provide the translation service for the UK Presidency of the European Union website.

From these experiences, eTeams learned how to fulfil the rigorous requirements of Public Sector contracts which has resulted in business being awarded to us by over 40 Irish Government Agencies, the European Union, the UK Government and significant commercial companies.

Given its heritage with the Irish language, eTeams is particularly proud to have been selected by various Irish government agencies to deliver translations in around 120 minority and less common languages.  Our team members feel an affinity with these languages – certainly for the importance of maintaining them as living languages – which is now combined with the practical know-how needed to ensure high-quality translations every time.

eTeams has now established a UK Sales Office, with the goal of providing a tangible alternative for UK-based commercial companies using large translation providers.  We believe that these providers have lost their ‘personal touch’ and are too focused on creating a high-volume standard ‘production environment’ for their costly infrastructures.  In comparison, eTeams collaborates with its clients to deliver a personalised translation service which is open and competitively priced.

We now employ 22 permanent staff and use the services of 2800 freelance Linguists to deliver our personalised, high-quality and best-in-class Translation and Interpreting service.

With its overall experience and the financial stability afforded it by a substantial investment from Enterprise Ireland plus a clearly defined 3 year marketing strategy, eTeams is looking forward to the opportunities ahead.

In summary, eTeams started small, but we have always aimed high, and during the last 15 years, we have proven that we can deliver excellence along the way.
