Oireachtas na Gaeilge Literary Award

Colm Mac Confhaola, one of eTeams’ Irish linguists, has been awarded the prestigious Oireachtas na Gaeilge Literary award for his recently-published novel, “Aoibhinn Beatha an Scoláire”.

The Oireachtas na Gaeilge Literary Competition, in its’ 112th year, is the most prestigious Irish language literary competition in the country.  Previous winners include some of Ireland’s most celebrated authors including Pádraig Mac Piarais, Máirtín Ó Cadhain & Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill.

eTeams in EU's Greenest Data Centre

eTeams is proud to announce that its eTeamsCONNECT Service uses datadock (www.datadock.eu), Europe’s Greenest Data Centre.  datadock has already won the eco Award 2010 from the German Internet Association and has also received the highest rating of five stars in the independent Datacentre Star Audit.  Located in Strasbourg, datadock uses a redundant 100Gbit backbone for speed and the availability of our clients’ information.

This is one example of eTeams’ commitment to the environment. We recognise that environmental issues are of fundamental importance in a successful and responsible business strategy.  We are committed to sustain and protect the environment and accept that we have both a moral and social responsibility for implementing environmental measures that go beyond legislative requirements. This responsibility is taken seriously and the Company invests, time, effort and money in ensuring that our aims are achieved.

We will take any reasonably practicable steps to prevent, minimise or render harmless the effect of process operations, activities and products on the environment.  We have introduced both an Environmental Policy and Sustainability Policy, the principles of which are:

  • To comply with and exceed, where possible, current legislation, codes of practice and regulations
  • To ensure all our staff are made aware of and committed to implementing and improving our Sustainability policy
  • To integrate the philosophy of sustainability into our business management in a way that enables all people to realise their potential and improve their quality of life whilst protecting and enhancing the earth’s natural resources
  • To minimise the impact on sustainability of all our business activities, i.e. delivery of services, transport, waste management, energy, etc
  • To play a proactive role in promoting sustainability practices with our clients and suppliers by making them aware of our Sustainability policy and encouraging them to adopt sound sustainable management practices
  • To review and continually strive to improve our sustainability performance

The FBD Clare Business Awards 2010, in association with Ennis Chamber, is a new, key event in County Clare’s business calendar and consists of 9 Award categories.  This new initiative recognises examples of business excellence throughout County Clare and pays tribute to the talent, dynamism and innovation that can be found across the County.

Specifically, the FBD Clare Professional Services Award is open to all businesses in the professional services sector that can demonstrate excellence in business practice across the full range of their activities.

Judges of this Award were looking for:

  • Robust and sustainable management systems and procedures
  • Clear evidence of ongoing employee development

Latest Audit Results
eTeams announces the results of its latest ISO 9001:2008 and EN15038:2006 audits carried out in August 2010.

eTeams uses an independent audit institution to cover both standards.  The audit for ISO9001:2008 certification covers our entire quality management system throughout the company while the EN15038:2006 audit covers the core translation process and all other related aspects involved in providing this service, including quality assurance and traceability.

Specifically, the scores given were 93% for ISO 9001:2008 and 85% for EN 15038, both rated as Very Good.

Nana Luke, eTeams Managing Director, commented “An external audit across the whole company is an important differentiator for eTeams. This is in comparison to some companies that may limit the scope of external audits to some offices or divisions or use internal auditing procedures. I am delighted with this result which validates our focus on quality”.

“eTeams prides itself on delivering a personalised and best-in-class service and this ethos extends throughout the company.  We are delighted to have this recognised by the Legal Aid Board and look forward to maintaining our high quality standards over the next two years”, commented Nana Luke, Managing Director of eTeams.

EN15038:2006 Certification

eTeams is proud to announce that we are now fully EN15038:2006 certified for our translation and localisation services.

EN15038 is a quality standard specifically written for the Translation industry and published by the European Committee for Standardisation.  Translation Service providers may choose self-declaration that they have applied this standard or undergo third party certification.

eTeams chose to demonstrate conformance through formal certification by an auditing body, rather than through the informal approach offered by self-declaration.

Nana Luke, eTeams Managing Director commented “This is a significant quality standard and we are delighted to have achieved full certification”.

Luke continued “Too often quality is emphasised by language providers not prepared to undergo formal third-party certification across their whole company, relying rather on certification for part of their company and/or self-declaration. By comparison, we consider full certification through an external auditing body the only way forward”.

Notably, this standard is being used by the European Union as a quality benchmark in its tender specifications.
