Our Technology

We know that one of the main problems you can experience is being tied in to your language provider’s technology system.  This can make it difficult to extricate yourself from the relationship further down the line.  Furthermore, access can be limited to the Business Management component only which reduces your participation in the whole translation project.

So, we’ve designed and created eTeamsCONNECT, our globally accessible translation environment, to facilitate the connection between your team and/or your Content Management System and our environment.  This comprises our advanced “Business and Workflow Management” and our “Translation Memory and Term Base”. eTeamsCONNECT is based on commercially available software, which is important as it means you are not tied to eTeams due to technology choice.

What’s more, eTeams offers our clients and linguists zero cost access to eTeamsCONNECT. 

 

 
Business and Workflow Management

The “Business and Workflow Management” component is provided by Plunet (www.plunet.de), a market-leading, online translation project management interface. Plunet is an integrated, securely hosted set of project management and CRM tools. It is accessible to all designated project personnel between eTeams and the client, allowing the status of a translation to be monitored at any given time.

Plunet offers the following benefits:

  • Tracking and filing of all queries and information
  • Uploading/downloading of documents for either quotation or translation
  • Vast choice of flexible reporting functions which can be tailored exclusively to meet each client’s needs.

Additionally, Plunet’s workflow manager enables the following functionalities:

  • Planning and processing of complex translation projects through the use of pre-defined job chains
  • Comprehensive control over time and cost, essential for professional project management
  • Clear graphical representation of process chains in the form of Gantt charts
  • Automated, dynamic administration of availability of the linguistic team, including adjustment for time zones

Automated interfaces between our clients’ systems and eTeamsCONNECT are also possible in conjunction with our partners, Plunet and Kilgray (MemoQ).

Translation Memory

eTeams works with the SDL Trados 2007 translation software (www.sdl.com) and also with MemoQ translation software (www.kilgray.com), the latter being our preferred Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tool.

Translation software breaks a text into segments (usually sentences). The translation of each segment is stored in the translation memory (TM). It is possible to re-use the TM of previous translations in future translations, which means that a translator never has to translate the same sentence twice. As TMs are shared, using translation software therefore ensures a high-level of terminology consistency throughout a translation team.

The eTeams secure MemoQ server enables our linguists to link into ‘live’, online TMs and to work together as a team on a translation. As the linguists work, their translated segments are saved into the TM and they can view each other’s work. This is essential for quality and consistency. Proofreading can also take place simultaneously, further reducing the turnaround time necessary. The linguistic team is able to discuss terminology and related issues in a project specific, on-line forum.

MemoQ supports the TMX format. Furthermore, it can accept the following document formats:
